Mortgages if required, are available in Spain or from lenders in the UK for varying terms up to 40 years. Obviously the longer the term the less the monthly repayment will be. It is possible that a mortgage request from a buying group (i.e. 4 or 6 people) is more attractive to a lender than one individual, given the current economic climate.
